Ian Nepomniachtchi has regained the lead in the 2023 FIDE World Championship match after bouncing back to beat Ding Liren in Game 5. “This loss hurt more than the previous one, because I thought I was totally fine,” said Ding, who despite falling far behind on the clock had come tantalisingly close to equalising before allowing a brilliant finish by his opponent. Nepo now leads 3:2 with nine games to go.
