Spider - Venom, Silk, Predators: Venom glands are present in most spiders but are absent in the family Uloboridae. They are located either in the chelicerae or under the carapace. Although silk is produced by some other invertebrates, only spiders are true silk specialists. Spider silks have proteins called fibroin, which have chemical characteristics similar to those of insect silk.
