Wesley So crashed through against Leinier Dominguez to seize a full-point lead at the top of Pool D with just two rounds to go. Levon Aronian also leads by a point in Pool C after a draw against Vidit, while Daniil Dubov caught Vincent Keymer out in the opening to win the other game in that group. Hikaru Nakamura still leads Alexander Grischuk and Andrey Esipenko by half a point after a fiery draw against Etienne Bacrot, while Group B is the hardest to call after Vladimir Fedoseev beat Grigoriy Oparin to catch Radek Wojtaszek.
