Following the not-so-impressive box office opening and lukewarm critical reception of Shazam 2, director David F. Sandberg expressed on Twitter, his decision to disconnect from superhero movies for a while and go back to his horror roots. The film opened to $65.5 million (about 541 crore) at the global box office, securing an 87 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, at the time of writing. The critics score, however, stands at 53 percent, making it Sandberg’s lowest-rated film on the website. Shazam! Fury of the Gods is now playing in theatres in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
